Being a mother myself I know by experience how difficult it is at times to reward a good behaviour in the hope of seeing it more often. 9 out of 10 times it simply does not work. But hey… mothers are notorious for their creativity in such things. And for not giving up.

Motherhood is the on-going challenge of dis-covering unconditional love and the way to communicate commune it.

A friend, mother of three herself, had the idea of using a reward system based on the classic concept of stickers and badges. Since my hands have the reputation of craftmanship she asked me to step in. The idea was that she wanted three pieces of cardstock in some shape or another, one for each child, so that she could hang them on a cork board she has and pin tokens on them as rewards.

After struggling a bit to figure out the shape of the cardboard (wanted something suited for boys and girls), I decided on this outline of a present box.

This way, each child will have its own box (with his/her name on the ribbon) to fill with goodies!

Then, I made a set of five rewards for each kid. Heart Trees, Suns, Presents, Hearts, Flowers and a Soccer Ball for the football lover.

All tucked in an origami box waiting to be claimed for accomplished achievements! Mother liked them. Hope the kids enjoy them too!

I hear that the kids loved them and even cleaned their rooms to get their first badge. They even were curious about who made them, how and things like that. Needless to say Mom sounded pretty pleased… Me Too!
